Family Services

Family Services staff and volunteers work diligently to provide individualized assistance for families who are struggling to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency in Warren County.

STEP - Success Towards Employment Program
STEP is a program providing job coaching and one-on-one intensive support for low income job seekers. A trained employment specialist assesses for individual needs and works to develop a comprehensive individualized employment plan.

Help from an employment specialist may include:

  • Improving interviewing skills
  • Answering tough interview questions
  • Developing a 30 second commercial
  • Searching for jobs on the internet
  • Networking tips
  • Setting up an e-mail account
  • Resume development

Call for an appointment:  513-695-2238 or 937-425-2238

Here is what Step clients have to say;

  • “I enjoyed seeing my strengths in certain areas.”
  • “I learned more about how to answer questions and how to fill out an application correctly and what to say.”
  • “I was able to understand my skills and ways that could help me in finding jobs as well as interviews.”

Family Services Program areas include:

  • Faith Works: A holistic approach to self-sufficiency launched in 2010, provides a 4 hour training to Faith Based Organization (FBO) volunteers. Training includes: understanding poverty, information on available resources, preventing compassion fatigue, motivating clients, secrets for active listening and teaching effective job searching techniques.
  • "I honestly hold in awe these people who are volunteering to help people with the promise of no reward except that which comes from within. The training was incredible. My new slant on life stems from empathy not sympathy. The class provided this to me. Marty Heide’s comments after attending a Faith Works class." (Marty is the Director of Special events and Warren County Outreach for Congressman Mike Turner)

  • Temporary Emergency Financial Assistance: Certified Family Services Development Specialists provide eligible clients limited financial assistance for utilities, rent and other miscellaneous items. Family Services staff assists families with problem solving and referrals to work toward achieving self-sufficiency.
