dignity and independence.
MARILYN'S STORY
Today’s Marilyn is nothing like the shy, introverted woman who first
came to The WCCS 741 Center two years ago. The stresses of her once comfortable
life were more than she could handle: a divorce after 23
years of marriage, the deployment of her son to combat, and her
daughter’s departure for college. Marilyn’s health and her income
were both near the breaking point.
She credits The 741 Center with giving her life a boost when she needed
it most. It’s not that her days are free of difficulties, but rather that
she has learned to cope and, with help, carve out a life of meaning and
joy for herself.
Marilyn is a regular part of weekly activity at The 741 Center, attending
Bible study, and playing euchre. She also enjoys teaching crafts as a
RSVP volunteer. What’s more, she’s giving
back by serving as secretary of WCCS 741 Center Advisory Board.
